Sitong Homestay | This picturesque Sittong village

Sitong is a beautiful Lepcha village in Darjeeling district of West Bengal, near Kurseong located at 4000 ft. above sea level. This picturesque Sitong village also called as ‘Orange Village’ due to high volume of orange cultivation, almost each and every house in this village has orange orchards. River Riyang and waterfall (Jhora), lush green mountain steps and orange gardens will welcome you when you are entering Sitong village.

          There is a nice church on hill-top of this village surrounded by very nice atmosphere. Take a short trip to Sitong View Point on your foot, the village is too tiny, you can roam entire village by walking. A magnificent view of orange orchards and Sitong village is visible from view point, a nice church located just beside the view point.  Sitong is also a bird watching destination, bird lovers will love this village and numbers of rare Himalayan birds are visible in Sitong.
Make a plan for trip to nearby destinations when you are at Sitong. On a day visit go to Mongpoo – which is home of the noble laureate Rabindranath Tagore (20 km). You also can visit BagoraDilaram and Kurseong (20 km) or Latpanchar – which is highest point in the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary (15 km).


Point of interest:  Sunrise and sunset over mighty Kanchenjunga along with other Himalayan ranges. Nature and forest trek, birding watching, butterfly watching, Village excursions are some of the activities you can get in this village. This is one of the fastest growing eco-tourism and organic village which produces many vegetables (beans, peas, spinach, ginger, Turmeric and round chilies - Dalli).

                         How to Reach Sitong

Nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) and nearest airport is Bagdogra (IXB), direct cars are available from airport as well as from NJP, till now direct shared transport is not available to Sitong. You can avail shared jeep up to Kurseong from Siliguri, and then take local car or taxi to Sitong. 
Sitong village located at 56 kms. away from Siliguri through Sevoke and Kalijhora. An alternative route also is available through Rambhi and Mongpo, distance around 77 kms. from Siliguri.
Note: Always hire a big car like Sumo, Bolero, and Jeeps for road condition.

                                    Best Season to Visit Sitong

Sitong can be visited throughout the year except monsoon, but best season to travel Sitong is winter (late December to February) when entire village get covered with oranges. The Sitong village produce best quality of orange in this region. This village one the destinations which also can be visited in monsoon, entire village gets green and river streams get filled in the month of Jun, July.
